Unfortunately, I do not have a photograph of the author, Dr. Marco Musiani speaking at the Wolf Book Launch on November 7th. For this reason, am including a picture of him speaking about the forthcoming book at an excellent UK Wolf Conservation Trust Seminar, back in May 2009.---

The sun shone and throughout the day visitors popped into my little Gallery/Wolf Kitchen. It was ideal and a big Thank you to Tsa and the UKWCT team for kindly providing such a lovely space for my artwork. A percentage from all sales of my prints and cards to be donated to the UK Wolf Conservation Trust.

My lovely and well-behaved girl :) watching the 'goings-ons' from the back of my little Gallery. Sat next to the wolves dinner-bins; she thought she was in heaven.

A number of visitors to the Book Launch & Open Day asked me about the UKWCT, and my involvement; so have included a brief history below.

For more detailed information please visit www.ukwolf.org. I have also included a Wolf Diary Page.

UKWCT

Having looked after wolves for a number of years previously, in 1995, Tsa and Roger Palmer founded the Wolf Conservation Trust. The aim to “enhance the conservation, scientific knowledge and public awareness of wolves and their habitat; to provide opportunities for the ethological research and for people to interact with wolves; to improve the chances of survival of wolves in the wild and to run education programmes for schools, conservation and other organisations.”

The Trust now has eight ambassador wolves in three large enclosures with underground dens and mounts to simulate their natural environment. The packs consist of the North American pack - Dakota, Duma; the European pack - Alba and his sisters Latea and Lunca; and Mosi, Mai and Torak, the Canadian wolves.

The Trust provides financial support for wolf conservation projects throughout Europe and in particular in Russia, Croatia and Bulgaria.

THE BOOKS
'A New Era for Wolves and People
' by Marco Musiani, Luigi Boitani, Paul Paquet.

The launch of a new wolf book which the UK Wolf Conservation Trust has supported since the concept was first realised by Professor Marco Musiani at a wolf symposium in Banff, Canada.

Marco and his co-editors, Luigi Boitani and Paul Paquet have brought together ground-breaking research from biologists and wolf conservationists throughout the world.  The project became so big that the book was subsequently split into a series of two books.  The second book, with a strong human dimensions focus, will be published in February 2010.

UKWCT specialist adviser, Denise Taylor , was the project manager for the book, and commissioned the accomplished wildlife artist, Susan Shimeld, on behalf of the Trust to produce a series of unique drawings and sketches to illustrate the book.
