I took this photo in glorious autumnal sunshine on a tranquil walk up to my old Larmer Tree Studio. I would walk this track every day – and depending on the weather each day was slightly different; with subtle changes in the colours of the trees and plants. I might also see a fallow or a roe deer, and I was always accompanied by a variety of birds singing in the treetops. If I was lucky, I might see a vole, hare, mole, or shiny iridescent beetle, or perhaps catch sight of a wood mouse scurrying through the undergrowth. Nature just going about its business. And each year, as autumn progressed the leaves would become the most beautiful golden-yellow, and burnished red. The leaves in the treetops would change colour so gradually… and yet so quickly fall. Each year, I would regret not taking my camera, but on this one occasion, was so pleased to have been able to capture this glorious moment in time – a lovely autumnal memory.
